On Monday, I watched the first 3 episodes of Vinland Saga
and man… I was impressed with the first few scenes of Demon Slayer and this
anime was no exception. Every frame is beautifully drawn!! And EACH CHARACTER
IS INTERESTING. A huge pet peeve of mine is having characters that literally
exist just to deliver a line. Here, you feel like you’re a part of Thor’s
village and everyone adds to that dynamic. Even outside the village, LOOK AT
HOW THEY DEPICTED THE NATIVE AMERICANS!! It’s always nice to see different
characteristics be depicted in the anime style, but still not get lost in the
giant bubble eyes and funky costume designs. I, for one, am very happy with
Leif Ericsson! It wasn’t some grandiose introduction; he was just some guy
peddling his wares around “the world”. And man, can they make these guys look intimidating.
As for the story, it’s easy to follow and you can kind of guess at some parts
what’s going to happen. However, there are a couple of twists and things that
can leave you guessing at the plot. It’s only been about 3 episodes, but the
character development that’s occurred so far has been

phenomenal. Like my boy
thorffin went from being a 6 year old bratty pushover to a war-hungry toddler
in LESS THAN AN EPISODE. BUT IT MADE SENSE. And don’t get me started on Ylva,
from the design to her actual personality, she is PERFECT. Not only does she
have the whole village after her, but she’s stolen my heart as well! She’s
probably going to be my only waifu this year (which has been lacking any
promising candidates) These three episodes were a great setting for the trials
ahead on this saga that is about to be told. I have not read the manga, (which
I’ve heard is fabulous), but according to the intro, I’m sure that this will be
Thorfinn’s saga as his dad has already seen most of his glory days.
