Voice Acting (My Current Experience)

I've just recently started getting into researching and understanding the business behind Voice Acting. Unsurprisingly, it's like all other talent careers where those who show up, are professional, and put their all into their craft are rewarded splendidly. However, it's a much easier industry to take advantage of. Since you can be an actor in the comfort of your home, many sites like Voices.com are quick to take your money and get you started as a Premium voice actor. You aren't allowed to even audition for roles without making an annual payment of $500. After listening to some reviews and opinions of other voice actors, it became clear that pay-2-play had a big presence online. Of course, this isn't anything new. There are tons of "talent" agencies out there who want to guarantee your success, even though they don't have much to show for it. Definitely rely on reviews when looking for a talent agency. It's all the better when they require you to ...

Youtube: Is it too late to start?

Image
Ever since Youtube started garnering some traction back in 2006, people have always said it's too late to start a Youtube Channel. Either the market is super saturated or the returns take too long or something of the like. While it may take more work now than it did when the platform was fresh, it still requires the same things as other platforms: Consistency Creativity Confidence (No I did not intend for all of those to be C words.) But anyways, it's true. You nee to know what you're doing and why you're starting up a youtube channel (or anything for that matter). Once you've nailed that down, it shouldn't be too hard to dream up some wild ideas if you're passionate about it. Creativity isn't a difficult subject because no one thinks the way you do. And finally, confidence. Don't be afraid to RESPECTFULLY  share your content. Be proud to share what you do, especially when you do something new. You'll realize very quickly that you're ...

Vinland Saga

Image
On Monday, I watched the first 3 episodes of Vinland Saga and man… I was impressed with the first few scenes of Demon Slayer and this anime was no exception. Every frame is beautifully drawn!! And EACH CHARACTER IS INTERESTING. A huge pet peeve of mine is having characters that literally exist just to deliver a line. Here, you feel like you’re a part of Thor’s village and everyone adds to that dynamic. Even outside the village, LOOK AT HOW THEY DEPICTED THE NATIVE AMERICANS!! It’s always nice to see different characteristics be depicted in the anime style, but still not get lost in the giant bubble eyes and funky costume designs. I, for one, am very happy with Leif Ericsson! It wasn’t some grandiose introduction; he was just some guy peddling his wares around “the world”. And man, can they make these guys look intimidating. As for the story, it’s easy to follow and you can kind of guess at some parts what’s going to happen. However, there are a couple of twists and things that can le...

My E3 Experience

Image
Who's there and who's square This year, Electronic Arts(June 8th), Microsoft, Bethesda, & Devolver Digital, Ubisoft & Square Enix (June 9th), and Nintendo (June 11th) appeared at E3 this year. Sony, however, dropped out, which truly broke my heart. However, I'm kind of glad they did, because that means they're putting all their effort into their next gen release, unlike some people (*cough* *cough* Microsoft) who are just rushing it to market. My conference pet peeves So conferences are already very cringy, so I can't even include that as a pet peeve. But no worries, I've got a few: Long drawn out speeches with filler vocab (Microsoft revealing xbox scarlet) unnecessary performances games with no gameplay, but don't worry, you can pre-order now...  I think the one thing that irritated me the most in 2018's E3 Conference was that everyone kept repeating the same thing: "Gamers want their investments to matter. " And all I cou...

Cosplay your type? I don't think so

Image
Now I'm always an advocate for doing whatever you want. Life's short, we've all got some place to be and something we wanna do. So don't let that neckbeard tell you Hinata would never wear her hair up in a pony tail or that you're not "brolic" enough to pull off a broly cosplay. These are just the warbled, pathetic sounds of people holding you back. Now, with that said, we can visit the other side of the conversation. I think we can all agree when someone takes the point "do what ya want" too far. But can we draw a clear line? I think people miss the point when they try to make a cosplay that is E X A C T L Y like the character. It's impossible. Unless you share the same genetic makeup, you're not gonna get it. I understand, with the right tools and contouring skills of a makeup goddess, you could get pretty darn close, but let's not go there. So here we are, smack dab in the middle. We've got one side saying what you can'...

My Insights on Twitch

Many people ask how I started off streaming. If you know me from Twitch, then you know one thing: I Love To Talk. So after moving to Cali with virtually no connections whatsoever, I was desperate for some human contact. In June, I got my phone, set up on my patio, and streamed for 2 hours. I talked to anyone and everyone who came in. I usually had long conversations with one or two people at a time. (That's how I learned about Ragamuffin Cats). I decided to make the stream more personal and got my webcam and my mic and set up OBS on my computer (I had one at the time). We'd sit and talk while I worked on cosplay with literal elevator music playing in the background. Looking back, I can't believe people actually entertained that madness. Around this time it had been a couple of weeks, and we had reached affiliate together with my band of 7 viewers. Definitely good times. Insane support After a while, I decided it was time to introduce some games. I co...
